Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you're considering nutrition counselling for the first time, or just want to know a little bit more about my services and what I offer, this is a great place to start! I've compiled a handful of questions that I get asked most frequently, and answered them to the best of my ability below.

Of course, if you still have more questions even after reading through this FAQ, do not hesitate to Contact Me!

What does 'holistic' mean?

Holistic refers to the 'whole' person. As a holistic nutritionist, I look far beyond just the food you are eating and dive into the other factors that could also be impacting your health. How are things like your environment, lifestyle, emotions, attitudes and thoughts manifesting into your greater overall health concerns? A holistic approach also emphasizes the importance of individualized recommendations; it's never a "one size fits all" approach.

How do I know if I would benefit from nutritional counselling?

If you feel lost, confused, frustrated, uninspired and unmotivated with your health and the way you feel, or perhaps you're just sick and tired of feeling sick and tired, then nutrition counselling is for you!

The reality is, no one is perfect with their food choices (not even me!), and in our increasingly processed and packaged world, it is becoming harder and harder to decipher how to eat healthy and live well. My services can benefit just about anyone; whether you are dealing with chronic issues, or you just feel a little lost with how to eat healthy, we can work out a plan that works for you!

Everyone is different!

Some clients do better with more accountability and in-person motivation, so they feel more frequent sessions are a benefit to them on their journey. Others do quite well once they have their guidelines and recommendations and only need to touch base with me after a few weeks. My goal is to have you feeling inspired and empowered to make changes to your diet and lifestyle beyond just our one-on-one time together.

In our initial visit we will discuss the follow-up options that will best suit you and your goals. No matter what we decide, I'm always available to my clients throughout the week for some  phone or email motivation if they need it!

How often will I need to come see you?

What guarantee do I have that this will work, and do I get a refund if it doesn't?

I cannot guarantee that nutritional intervention will have the exact result you desire. I recommend that everyone read through my specific Terms & Policies before booking with me.

What I can guarantee is that I will do everything in my power to provide you with the absolute best recommendations and programs to help you succeed. The body's physiology is very complicated and it can take time for any sort of change to start taking effect. It can take years for disease and dysfunction to build in the body, and it can take just as much time to restore this balance.

Regaining health is a journey; there is no quick fix that will solve all of our problems. However long that journey is for you, I'll be there to help you along the way.

Why would I book with a nutritionist when I can just look up how to eat healthy online?

The internet is a wonderful resource for everything from recipes to holistic health and wellness tips.

However, the amount of misinformation and false advertising surrounding nutrition and health on the internet is astounding. It can be nearly impossible sometimes to try to decipher what is fact and what is fiction. But the most frustrating part is when you are trying to figure out what will work best for you

Working with a qualified and trained professional is the only way you can be sure you are getting personalized recommendations that are accurate, safe, and effective. My practice is built on evidence and science-based nutrition; I never guess, never use anecdotal interventions, and never go by the latest fad to generate your recommendations.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept Visa, Mastercard and Debit.

Will my visit be covered by my insurance?

Every plan is different!

Be sure to check with your insurance provider to confirm if you have coverage for nutritional counselling. Because of my registration with the I.O.N.C., there are plans that will cover my services.
